CST/ Thursday...

A Winter Storm Warning remains in effect until 1 PM EST /noon
CST/ Thursday.

* Timing: rain will transition over to sleet by lunchtime in
southern Indiana and towards mid afternoon over the western
Kentucky and Blue Grass parkways. This sleet then will then
transition to snow... becoming heavy by evening and continuing
into tonight. Snow will end Thursday morning.

* Accumulations: 7 to 11 inches of snow across central and north
central Kentucky. Localized higher amounts possible.

* Main impact: major travel disruptions this evening through
Thursday morning. Plan on snow covered roads and dangerous
travel conditions. Snow rates may be intense... resulting in
rapid accumulations.

* Other impacts: north winds gusting up to 20 mph tonight. This
combined with the weight of the snow could result in scattered
power outages and downed tree limbs.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

Travel will be treacherous with some roads nearly impassable.
Have an emergency kit of blankets... food... water and flashlights
if you must travel.

across the area have reported significant flooding issues. Between 1
and 3 inches has already fallen. Some roads are closed. Additional
rainfall up to 1 inch on top of a very saturated ground will cause
creeks and streams to rise out of banks.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

Excessive runoff from rainfall will cause elevated levels on small
creeks and streams... and ponding of water in urban
areas... highways... streets and underpasses as well as other poor
drainage areas and low lying spots.

Excessive runoff from heavy rainfall will cause elevated levels on
small creeks and streams... and ponding of water on country roads and
farmland along the banks of creeks and streams.

Do not drive your vehicle into areas where the water covers the
roadway. The water depth may be too great to allow your car to cross
safely. Move to higher ground.

between 1 and 2 inches of rain has fallen across the area on top of
a very saturated ground. Local law enforcement report that creeks
and streams are nearing banks. Flooding of low lying roads and
crossings are anticipated.

Additional rainfall amounts of around 1 inch through late afternoon
are expected in the advisory area.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

Excessive runoff from rainfall will cause elevated levels on small
creeks and streams... and ponding of water on country roads and
farmland along the banks of creeks and streams.

A Flood Advisory means river or stream flows are elevated or ponding
of water in urban or other areas is occurring or is imminent.

In hilly terrain there are hundreds of low water crossings which are
potentially dangerous in heavy rain. Do not attempt to travel across
flooded roads. Find alternate routes. It takes only a few inches of
swiftly flowing water to carry vehicles away.

Heavy rains associated with this storm may produce ponding of water
on roadways. Motorists are encouraged to slow down and use extra
caution while traveling.

... Flood Watch now in effect through this evening...

The Flood Watch is now in effect for

* portions of southern Indiana and all of central Kentucky.

* Through this evening... though a transition to snow from north to
south will occur during the afternoon.

* Heavy rainfall of an additional inch to three inches on soils
saturated from recent snow melt.

* Flooding of low-lying and poorly drained areas is likely.
Minor flooding on small creeks and streams.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

A Flood Watch means there is a potential for flooding based on
current forecasts.

You should monitor later forecasts and be alert for possible
flood warnings. Those living in areas prone to flooding should be
prepared to take action should flooding develop.
