The National Weather Service in Louisville has issued a Winter
Weather Advisory for snow... sleet... and freezing rain... which is in
effect from 4 am EST /3 am CST/ to 6 PM EST /5 PM CST/ Sunday.
* Timing: precipitation will begin as a mixture of snow... freezing
rain and sleet early Sunday morning... before transitioning over
to mainly freezing rain and sleet by mid morning into the afternoon. By
early Sunday evening... the precipitation will transition to
* Main impact: snow and sleet accumulations up to one inch are
possible... with up to two tenths of an inch of ice accumulation.
* Other impacts: the bulk of the precipitation... including the
potential for icing on roadways will be Sunday morning into
Sunday afternoon. Conditions should improve by Sunday evening as
temperatures warm to just above freezing.
A Winter Weather Advisory means that periods of snow... sleet... or
freezing rain will cause travel difficulties. Be prepared for
slippery roads and limited visibilities... and use caution while
... A wintry mix likely late Saturday night and early Sunday
Moisture will return late Saturday and overspread the commonwealth
by Sunday morning. Temperatures early Sunday will initially be
cold enough to produce a period of light freezing rain or sleet.
Some light snow may even mix in at first across north central
Kentucky. A light glaze or icy accumulation may develop by Sunday
morning... making travel hazardous.
This wintry mix will first develop across southern Kentucky after
midnight... spreading north towards Interstate 64 around dawn.
By early afternoon Sunday... this mixed wintry precipitation is
expected to change over to rain across central Kentucky as
temperatures rise into the mid 30s.
